The Sacroiliac Joint (SI Joint or SIJ), along with the entire pelvic girdle (think pubic symphysis and coccyx too) can cause significant pain and limit mobility at your hip during transfers, walking, and functional activities.
During your initial evaluation at Frankly Pelvic, we will take a look at your body from head to toe before we dive into the middle – your SI joint, pelvis, and core. Assessing your standing and sitting postures, making recommendations, offering supports and braces to help maintain stability as we work on strength and conditioning will allow you to continue performing your daily routines without interference.
Hip and core weakness oftentimes contribute to an unstable SI joint, coccyx, or pubic symphysis. Coupled with a heavy mix of excessive sitting followed by fast, jolty movements leave room for nerves, tissues, tendons, and muscles to strain or startle with a pain response.
Teaching you how to manage pain if it flares up and prevent recurrences from happening is part of a thoughtful progressive plan crafted by your Physical Therapist at Frankly Pelvic. Breaking old habits, while instilling new healthy habits for our joints and muscles through intentional movement will save the day (and our joints)!
